Renova is owned by ten municipalities across the Gothenburg Region in Sweden's west. H2X has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the waste company. H2X is to provide Renova with five commercial vehicles from the H2X range. These vehicles include a 18 tonne back loader truck, a 28 tonne demountable truck and three 3.5 tonne tail lift vehicles.

Being renowned for its innovation in industry and technology and its ambition to reach net zero emissions before before 2045, Sweden is the perfect place for a hydrogen player like H2X.

More specifically, Gothenburg aims to have its own vehicle fleet fossil-free by 2023 and reduce carbon emissions by 90% by 2030 in the city's entire transport system. H2X will be crucial in providing the hydrogen needed for the city to reach these goals.

This MOU gives H2X the opportunity to grow and expand its operations in Scandinavia, developing and producing vehicles to the transport industry using hydrogen fuel cell electric power.

Located in Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology is one of Europe's leading technology universities, conducting ongoing research into renewable alternatives. This coupled with leading hydrogen suppliers in Sweden and Northern Europe, H2X has announced it will be setting up its European headquarters in the Gothenburg region.

CEO of Renova, Anders Åström says:

"This is an important step in our need to reduce our environmental impact. Together with the City of Gothenburg we are reviewing how we can deliver a more sustainable transport solution. We believe the partnership with H2X Global will be a further step in our vehicle development for a cleaner future for the city of Gothenburg."

H2X Chief Design Officer, Chris Reitz says:

“That the growing interest in Hydrogen fuel cell technology in Europe has accelerated as the need to find alternatives to natural gas and oil increase with tensions in Europe’s north. We know that all of Europe is watching how Sweden and its neighbours adopt renewables and we are very grateful to be included in the planning at this early stage. Our unique competence combining both a scalable hydrogen powertrain solution with internal Automotive knowledge enables us to tailor hydrogen powered vehicles to the needs and specifications of our customers."
